BookSmart Seattle

What's the difference between tax planning and tax preparation?

Tax preparation is filing the return for a year that's already over. Tax planning happens during the year, while there is still time to act: depreciation, entity strategy, and the timing of a sale or a big purchase. We do both, so the firm that plans your year files it.

When should I start planning for this year?

The earlier, the better. Ideally in the first half of the year, and no later than early fall, so there's still time for year-end moves.

Is cost segregation worth it for my property?

It depends on the property. Cost segregation accelerates depreciation, which helps in some cases and not in others. We look at your property and your numbers with you, and tell you whether it's worth it.

Do you file Washington B&O?

Yes. We file Washington B&O for any client who owes it, including contractors and real estate agents.

Do you work with clients outside Seattle?

We're based in Seattle and work with clients across the US.

Do you serve clients in Vietnamese?

Yes. Vietnamese-language service is available.

What happens on the free consultation?

A free 30-minute call with Uyen Le, CPA, on Google Meet. We look at where you stand, what's coming this year, and whether planning would pay off for you. If you have it, bring your most recent tax return and a list of your properties, jobs or closings.

How much does it cost?

We don't list prices on the site. After your free consultation, most clients start with a paid Strategy Session, credited toward a full plan if you continue. We'll recommend the right fit on your call.
